What Kind of Equipment does the Computer Technology for Schools Project Distribute?
The minimum standard for Information and Communications Technology equipment being distributed by the Computer Technologies for Schools (CTFS) project is as follows:
- Pentium-4 standard computers and above: 15-inch and above LCD monitor, CPU (including floppy disk compact disk drive and hard disk drive), keyboard and mouse operating
as a complete system. Working laptops and notebook computers; and
- IT and Communications equipment: any working peripheral equipment that supports a computer, for example file server, CD-ROMs, sound cards, speakers, printers,
modems, scanners, tablets, backup units and uninterruptible power supplies.
- Other electronic equipment: schools have also welcomed photocopiers, data projectors, personal organisers, electronic whiteboards and network equipment such as hubs, routers, and print spoolers, as well as software and consumable items.
Please note that some States, especially those that operate recycling centres, accept incomplete equipment.
